A collection for families who want to document their little one’s grand entrance into the world.

Birth is an untimed milestone so Ellie will provide continuous documentation (from between 5-7cm dilated) until your little one safely arrives earthside. Upon delivery, Ellie will capture 90 continuous minutes of post birth photography.

Welcome Earthside Collection || $3000

A collection for families who want to document their little one’s grand entrance into the world and preserve the fleeting now of infancy with a keepsake lifestyle newborn collection.

Within three weeks of their arrival, Ellie will reconvene with your family one final time (for now) at your home to capture your beautiful baby’s fleeting newness with a forty five minute lifestyle newborn session. The newborn collection will include 75+ edited, high resolution images delivered via an online, downloadable album within 10 business days (2 weeks) of session.

Earthside Superbloom Collection || $3600

A collection for families who want to document every intimate detail of their little one’s journey earthside. The Earthside Superbloom collection is inclusive of three collections in one: maternity, birth, and newborn.

At least six weeks before your little one’s arrival (between 32-34 weeks) Ellie will meet with your growing family at the San Diego location of your choice to capture a keepsake maternity collection. The maternity collection will include 75+ edited, high resolution images delivered via an online, downloadable album within 10 business days (2 weeks) of session.

Ellie will meet with you next to capture your active labor and delivery. Birth is an untimed milestone so Ellie will provide continuous documentation (from between 5-7cm dilated) until your little one is safely delivered earthside. Upon arrival, Ellie will capture up to three continuous hours of post birth photography.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Ellie Coburn Photography only services 1-2 birth clients per month on a first come, first serve basis. That said, it is strongly encouraged to inquire about birth photography as soon as you find out you are expecting. Prospective clients are warmly welcomed to inquire at any stage in their pregnancy (yes, even in the final hour), however, the sooner the better is the rule of thumb.
Birth photos are delivered via an online, downloadable album within three weeks (fifteen business days) of your birth. Ellie will provide you with 15+ preview images to share with friends and family within 72 hours.
Persons birthing at home, a birth center, or in the hospital are invited to inform their midwife or doctor that a birth photographer will be present at the birth of their child(ren) during one of their prenatal appointments. In most instances, just looping your team in is sufficient action, however, if more action is required in your particular circumstnace, reach out to Ellie directly and specific details can be discussed.
Planned c-section
Unfortunately, most San Diego hospitals do not allow for the presence of a photographer in the operation room during a c-section. That said, Ellie Coburn Photography does not presently offer birth photography services for persons with a planned c-section. An alternative “welcoming baby” session that occurs in the hospital (within the first 24-48 hours of baby’s arrival) is a great option for families delivering via c-section.
Unplanned c-section
In the instance of an unplanned c-section the client’s partner or birthing support person (typically one is allowed alongside the birthing person in the OR) will be given Ellie’s camera on auto along with a 1-3 minute crash course on how to point and shoot the camera to capture moments that Ellie will later recover and edit with post processing.
Of course no client or birthing partner is required to take my equipment into the operating room with them. Clients seeking birth photography are typically nostalgic at heart, valuing every moment of their child’s grand entrance earthside, which is why I offer the opportunity to provide my equipment if desired.

Ellie is on call for every birth between 38-42 weeks. “On call” means that Ellie is local to San Diego, your and your birthing partner’s phone number have been assigned a special (very abrasive) ringer that bypasses all do not disturb settings, and Ellie is prepared to drop everything on a moment’s notice to be to you within 60 minutes of receiving your “go time” signal.
